Neville Mills was born at a very young age in South Africa. He and his wife, Merope moved to England, where they spent four years in Kent before settling in Sydney in 1981. They have lived in Queensland for many years and moved to Noosa in 2008. His early career was as an accountant and he then worked in executive recruitment in Johannesburg, London and Sydney. He established his own executive search company in Sydney in 1982 and sold it in 2003, before moving to Queensland. He self-published The Humphrey Hatt Letters in 1998, a book of humorous letters and their replies involving international celebrities and politicians. It was re-printed in mid-2010. Snowybright and the Eight Dwarfs was followed by Ralph, Buster and the World’s First Dogathlon, and The Curious Letters of Mervyn Mudal. Neville is at present working on a new Mudal book – available in late 2017. In 2007 Neville completed a Bachelor of Arts at Griffith University, majoring in writing. In the following years, he was short-listed for neither the Booker Prize nor the Children’s Laureate Award. He did, however, win the Under 11 Sack Race at his Primary School Sports Day.
